Mostly bugfix release, see the home page and get the ebuild in the Bugzilla.

I got that on Friday. I emerged it by changing the 1.6 ebuild name.

It works well.

A patch is out for Kile 1.6.1. See this bug report.

What bugs does this patch specifically fix?

From Jeroen Wijnhout's announcement:
Quote:
This is a patch for that fixes the following bugs in 1.6.1:
spurious "File changed on disk" messages
sometimes files (from projects) are marked as opened incorrectly
don't crash if a kviewshell component (like kdvi) is not installed (you
need to update to KDE 3.2.1 to have this fixed)
don't use the $$...$$ TeX tag, but use the LaTeX \[ ... \] version
