When I worked for another company I had to transport a simulator from Texas to Florida in a 25 foot diesel truck. I filled up at a BP and it would only go 55MPH no matter what. Later I refilled at a Loves truckstop and it would then go 65MPH.

Strange. But BP stations are popping up all around Texas now. The majority of stations are Mobil (aka Exxon or Esso in Europe), Chevron, Shell (aka former Texaco stations), QT, RaceTrac, and Diamond Shamrock.

Well in NZ we have two major gas types with one or two stations doing a higher octane

Standard: 91
Premium / Super: 96
With some doing a: 98

Prices fluctuate so much here bout its: ( per litre )

$1.109NZ for 91
$1.159NZ for 96
and
$1.209NZ for 98

Conversion is about .67 to 1. eg 1 NZ $ buys 67c US.

Since I use the 98Octane it costs me somewhere in the vicinity of $60NZ / $40.2 US to get 50 litres to fill my car up.

For interested, car is a Subaru RS Legacy. Likes to go fast but also likes to drink the gas =)

The price in Canadian $ here is currently 78 cents per litre, and that's for the lowest grade gas there is.

It was up to almost a dollar a litre a while ago, but it went down again.

Hopefully it'll go back down into the 60 cent range again as that was more handlable.

Diesel is that stuff that makes a lot of white smoke when you put it in your gasoline powered car.
Diesel is that stuff that makes a lot of black smoke when you put it in a big truck.
Diesel is that stuff that makes rattling noises when you put it in your TDI.

http://www.dallasgasprices.com/

Just go to that link put in your ZIP code (anywhere in the US) and it will show you the cheapest gas.

Sorry, Americans only, because we're special. :D

~250 danish kroner for ~28 litres of unleaded 95 octane at the local OK Benzin self-service. Keep in mind that this is probably the cheapest place for gas here in Denmark...

That's about $42.99, which is $1.54/litre or $5.81/gallon.

My car is a 1295cc Toyota Corolla DX, if that matters.

The Truck I last drove was pathetic.
A 78 bronco running a 460ci engine. Got all of 8mi/gallon
Gasoline is about $1.65 and with a 26 gallon fuel tank.. that comes to $43 dollars. Yup.. I could go a whopping 200 miles before refueling.

Now I've got an Acura Integra with a 1.8L ; I get 30 mi/gallon and on my 13.2 gallon gas tank; I can go almost twice as far on half the fuel.

SW England... it's about 84p a litre generally.

Which I make... £3.18 a gallon, so... US$5.80 a gallon? That right? Three times as much as US prices?

They should tax the juice much more in the US so that they'd start thinking about the environment...

That's £3.18 per uk gallon and $5.8 for a US gallon then? Only three times as much? My last fuel purchace for my 1.9 TDi was £50, (about $90) though it was empty and will probably last me ~700 miles as I get decent fuel economy.

Where abouts in SW England? I'm from Plymouth myself.

station: Esso Express @ Wemmel, Belgium
gas: Euro 95
price:
1.09 euro/l
4.12 euro/(google) gallon
Car: Skoda Fabia 2004 1.2 HTP
The sad part is that this is the cheapest station I've seen 'round here.

45 mins up the road in Exeter.

I've got a 1.4 Escort that costs a touch over £30 to fill and does a somewhat pathetic 300 miles (ish). Not too surprising that I can't afford to run it for the 8 months left of my degree. (Add petrol prices to my car insurance, last year it was £1200 - dropped to a quote of £800 for the next, but that doesn't help much!)

Nice to see Gentoo alive and well in Devon :D

Insurance, don't get me started on that. Its absolutely crazy how much they charge younger drivers especially. No wonder there's so many uninsured cars driving around. My friend got given a £300 Astra a couple of years back, got quoted £2000+ to insure it!!!! Insurance is pretty much the number 1 reason I don't own my own car, (can borrow parents when they're not using it). I could live with the fuel costs, I'd just drive less miles. Insurance however for a year will cost me pretty much the same amount as I could afford to work in a year in between my degree. I don't want to have to be working purely so that I can afford to _get to_ work in the morning!!!

I put premium in my car this weekend. I paid $2.17 a gallon for it. I learned that it is a good idea to run premium through a car once a month. It acts as its own fuel injection cleaner.

Me too - 65? a month for as much trips to ghent as i want (20-30 km away, depends on the station) and every busride in the whole northern part of belgium (flanders). And my employer pays me every last penny of that 65? back at the end of the month.
