Every time I attempt an initial reboot on my g3 powerbook, It hangs on (or after?) this line:

NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0.

I have tried both stage1 and stage3 installs, various kernel settings and so on. I have tried both the gentoo and the benh kernel from penguinppc.org.

I managed to get it working once a few weeks ago after switching to the benh kernel, thinking that was the issue, but after blowing it away again, i am getting the same error, and have not figured out how to resolve it this time.

Anyone have any ideas? its a g3-400 powerbook w/ 380 megs of ram.

Same problem for me on the same hardware.
I have another line with "ds: no socket drivers loaded!"

Maybe a problem to mount the root partition??
I'm trying another kernel build.

ok, ive tried various changes over the past while when I had time to play with it, and still no luck.

I have even followed the kernel directions in the lastest ppc install doc, and still no luck.

Anyone have any ideas? I have even gone as far as stripping it down to almost nothing. ;/

same hardware, same distro, but works fine. I imagine maybe you did not compile your kernel with socket support. (in Networking options)
