Just a quick tip for dvb card users.
If your kernel hangs during boot (if you have the dvb drivers built in) or when you modprobe your relevant bttv modules, you can fix it like this:
Delete (or comment out) line 2721 in ... | Code: | | /usr/src/linux-2.6.11-xxx-xx/drivers/media/video/bttv-cards.c |
This is a call to bttv_reset_audio(btv)
You can now rebuild the kernel and / or modules and enjoy HDTV once again 
BTW: If you are having troubles with nvidia drivers and 2.6.11 you can follow this quick guide (using moochas patches)
