Ok, when trying to install Gentoo 1.2 from stage 1, it always hung randomly during the bootstrap. To get around this, I installed Gentoo from a stage3 tarball which was successful. Then.. from that installation, I installed Gentoo again, this time from stage1, all all went well!
Was I right in assuming the install kernel has some option that doesn't agree with my hardware ? |

Most likely you didn't choose something correctly when starting from stage1 originally. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I had installed Gentoo many times before, only this time with a different PC. And I did the stage1 from my installed stage3 system exactly the same as I did it from the install shell. Exactly.
For it to fail about 9 times from the installer, and work the first try from an installed stage3 system.. Don't think it's user error O_o |

I stand corrected. It was my RAM. |
