I got the following after doing an emerge of something

Code:

 * IMPORTANT: 16 config files in /etc need updating.
 * Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files.

But I'm confused after having read the help. It mentions changes to make.globals and make.conf. It seems like make.globals needs to be changed, but what should I do? I tried adding CONFIG_PROJECT_MASK="/etc" to /etc/make.globals and doing an emerge --update work, but that didn't do it. Besides, I dont get the basic idea of what I'm supposed to do to update these config files.

The basic idea is that you take a look at both files, compare them, and decide if you want to a) keep the old one, b) delete it and adopt the new one, or c) mix them in some way you please. Portage will not overwrite config files. It's up to you. :)
