Hi,
I'd like to do some NC-style machines. The machines are mostly P75 (no there is no "0" missing ), but they only run a simple application.
I've choosen the nfsroot style to boot them, they are all same and I already use this with two dozen machines (older Slackware).
After compiling a machine I made a kernel and customized it with mknbi-linux to do nfsroot.
Everything boots fine until init started: the systems hangs, you can type something (is echoed on the screen) but nothing happens. Same procedure w/o dev-fs (if i remove init it complains). It makes no difference using a plain 2.4.19 kernel or a gentoo one and the kernel can be compiled by gcc 2.95.2 or 3.2.
Copying a plain old Slackware root-fs works niclely. Any ideas, please ?
