|
|
I just emerged the latest portage, and all of a sudden, I can't emerge anything else anymore :\
whenever I try emerging anything, it always stops at md5 src_uri e.g.:
Quote: | fridge root # emerge perl
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 2) sys-devel/libperl-5.8.0 to /
>>> md5 src_uri perl-5.8.0.tar.gz
*
* PLEASE NOTE: If you want to compile perl-5.8 with
* threading enabled , you must restart this emerge
* with USE=threads emerge....
* Threading is not supported by all applications
* that compile against perl. You use threading at
* your own discretion.
*
fridge root # emerge portage
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-apps/portage-2.0.49-r21 to /
>>> md5 src_uri portage-2.0.49-r21.tar.bz2
|
my portage version is:
fridge root # emerge --version
Portage 2.0.49-r21 (hardened-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.3_pre20031222-r0, 2.4.22-gentoo-r4)
anyone else having this problem / knows a fix for this? thanks & bye

Try a 'rm -rf /usr/portage/distfiles/*' which should clear up any previously downloaded tar.bz2 source files and trying your emerge again.
Also, look in your loggs, see if any errors are being produced (term 12 might have some info as well). _________________ { NO -U } { STRIP }

Switch to Vterm 12 (CTRL-ALT-F12) and see if theres anything there (likely not but its worth a shot).
Have you tried to install a binary through portage (eg #emerge -k xyz) and see if it still does the same?
And when you've removed all the source packages in ./distfiles, does portage make an effort to download from a server? _________________ { NO -U } { STRIP }

terminating? why is it terminating?
is it possible to increase the verbose-level there? _________________ http://www.justBE.com Global Open Source Personalization |

Can't say about getting more information, perhaps tacking on a -v (-vv?) on the emerge line will cause the log to be more verbose.
just for shytes and giggles, try running the fix-db.pl script in
/usr/lib/portage/bin/fix-db.pl
and try another emerge.
What happens when you try to emerge sync? Does it fail? and would you mind running an emerge -V (cap v) to give the version you've got running for me? _________________ { NO -U } { STRIP }
