I am trying to install a Gentoo Linux on my crappy old SUN Sparcstation 5. Its CPU speed is 90MHZ, and it has 2 hard drives: one 1GB and one 546MB. I am doing a stage 1 and 2 install. However, I run out of disk space before the installation is finished. I want to make a webserver out of the sparcstation with Apache2, PHP, and mysql. What USE flags should I use? What architecture? I assume it's sparc. Thank you.

To be honest, I would probably go with something like Debian for a system with such limited space. I remember my old Sparcstation 5 - most of the software I used on it had to be mounted via NFS, as it just didn't have enough space for Solaris and the software. A Debian install can be absolutely tiny and I believe their Sparc support is good. |
