Hello!
I have problems with setting up RTL8139D(Hangzhou Silan Microelectronics version or something...), and drivers exist in kernel version 2.6.21. What are my options? I have already downloaded minimal install. I don't have any other linux installed, and if I have to download LiveCD, how to get newer kernel? I would appreciate any help or recommendation. |

stralep,
Do a networkless install then use sneakernet to get a newer kernel.
You can also install Gentoo from any liveCD. If you can find another one that works, the few extra steps are described here
Good luck _________________ Regards,

Did you try modprobe -v 8139too, or 8139cp? I think one of these two modules should get you online. If the first one does not work run modprobe -r 8139too to remove it before you try the next.

Somehow, I had problems with live cd, so I downloaded newest portage and stage3 tarballs and after chrooting, I executed emerge -pF (packages from minimalCD manual). Thank you for helping. |
