I'm trying to install VCRON during the installation process, and I emerge it just fine, but it says a config file needs to be updated. So I re-emerge it with CONFIG_PROTECT="", but it doesn't update the config file, I still recieve the same message for the same file. Anyone know how to fix this? |

I got the same error. Being a newbie I had no clue how to fix it. Will be interested in what we can learn from it... |

There is still a ._cfgxxxx file sitting in /etc. Until you deal with it it will continue to haunt you. The easiest thing to do is to emerge gentoolkit and check out the 'etc-update' command. The second easiest thing to do is type Code: | $ emerge --help config | ...as is described in http://gentoo.org/doc/en/faq.xml under "When updating a package using emerge or ebuild, how do I avoid clobbering my config files?" and follow the instructions there. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
