So I've installed Gentoo following the documentation, and when Im on the system now I only have the "ROOT" partition mounted, not the "BOOT". I needed to recompile the kernel so I mounted BOOT, went through the process and copied the bzImage to the /mnt/boot, rebooted and the new kernel is used. My question is about modules - where do the .o files go? I was having problems with it not finding modules so I statically compiled everthing I needed - but I'd rather use modules. Which partition and directory do they go on?
Thanks.

They go in /lib/modules/[kernel-version]. You should not normally need to put anything there yourself - the command "make modules_install" that you should have run as part of your kernel build should put them there for you. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
