this is becoming a problem - broken ebuilds ive come across several (which are already in bugs db) but its very hard to experience gentoo the way its meant to be with broken ebuilds.
now dont get me wrong you guys do a great job for this community and i know you work very hard. however, quality is better than quantity imo _________________ .. ...kemical. ... .. .. |

I have similar impressions. The Gentoo ebuild script pool seems to explode. I hope the core team rapidly finds a way to assure a high quality standard for ebuilds(->which actually means to have Gentoo on a high standard).
It would be a shame if such a good idea as Gentoo would suffer from middleclass ebuilds |

The "broken ebuild" issue is pretty much Gentoo's achillies heel. There's simply no way ebuilds can be tested on all possible combinations of libraries and architectures -- as such, you may end up with unfortunate things happening as a result.
However, the situation has improved greatly since the < 1.0 days, and continues to improve through the efforts of the Gentoo developers. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
