erro ao executar programas gráficos num terminal

Olá pessoal.


Quando executo qualquer programa em um terminal (após mudar de usuário com o comando su) aparece esta mensagem:

[root@athlon /]# kportage
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

kportage: cannot connect to X server :0.0
[root@athlon /]#


Neste caso o usuário normal está no KDE e uma janela de terminal como root.

Como faço para executar o programa, estando logado como usuário normal?

Obs.: No Conectiva Linux que tenho instalado a mensagem não aparece e o programa executa sem problemas.

numa sheel executa o comando:

# xhost localhost

para o X aceitar ligações locais, em principio deve funcionar.
