Ok so for two weeks I have been building first gentoo sparc system.
I have done many other distros in intel platform but tried gentoo for sparc do to free system.
Install was rough at first but figured out the emerge--websync
Then Kernel work was something that I had done in system V but that was long time ago...
Now for KDE all I can say is WOW 60-80 hours of complier running.
Portage seems to be a good way of dist. fixes.
I did figure out USE variable for my needs!
These forums are the only way I could have figured out WTH I was doing...
Seems to be faster that Solaris!
Thanks to all who post here!!! |

Congratz on a running system. What hardware are you running on? That's some insane compiler time, I dread a power outage for my upcoming install. _________________ 2400+/512mb/80gb WinXP
