my kde applications (konqueror, Kate.. etc) are working fine but when i close any of them the crash handler comes up with the following backtrace:

Code:

0x40fa7ed9 in wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6
#0  0x40fa7ed9 in wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6
#1  0x41029900 in __check_rhosts_file () from /lib/libc.so.6
#2  0x40ec1856 in waitpid () from /lib/libpthread.so.0
#3  0x4061935c in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler ()
   from /usr/kde/3/lib/libkdecore.so.4
#4  0x40ebf664 in pthread_kill () from /lib/libpthread.so.0
#5  0x40f298f8 in sigaction () from /lib/libc.so.6
#6  0x40f183c7 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/libc.so.6

and that's for *every* KDE application.[code]

I don't know if this is your case, but the same thing used to happen to me when I used the keramik style I downloaded and compiled for kde-look.org. Changing the style solved the prob (and liquid is much mbetter looking :) )

Cheers,
Atha

This is happening to me all the time as well. Here's my backtrace, which unfortunately is lengthy, and I apologize for that. I don't know what parts of the file are important, so here's the whole thing.

Could it have something to do with the rhosts file (which I have not configured yet)? rhosts is mentioned in my backtrace. I love konq and gentoo, but this is crashing 5-6 times per internet session, so getting this fixed is critical to my continued use of my linux box. All help appreciated.

How can I check if I'm using keramic or not? I don't remember doing anything special with my KDE fonts. Just the defaults, and of course anti-aliasing.

My system:
Gentoo Linux 2.4.19-gentoo rc 5
gcc 2.95.something

The same goes for me. In my case I'm pretty sure that it's not related to Keramik in any way. It started when I updated to Gentoo 1.4 and recompiled the whole system (kde 3.0.3 btw). I have now compiled kde 3.1beta2 and I got exactly the same problem, whether I use keramik or not. It's the same every time that I close an application. This is my backtrace:
