I use the "slim" login panel.
I watch error: "failed to execute login command"

You should check this entry in slim configuration file. Your login_cmd is probably wrong. Here is mine, but it may depend on your system.
Code: |
$ grep -A 10 'succesful login' /etc/slim.conf
# This command is executed after a succesful login.
# You can place the %session and %theme variables to handle launching of
# specific commands in .xinitrc depending on chosen session and slim theme.
# Ensure that the command handles an empty %session, as that is the default
#
# NOTE: if your system does not have bash you need to adjust the command
# according to your preferred shell, e.g. for freebsd use:
# login_cmd exec /bin/sh - ~/.xinitrc %session
#login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session
#login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login /usr/share/slim/Xsession %session
login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login /usr/share/slim/Xsession %session >~/.xsession-errors 2>&1
|
Code: |
# eix x11-drivers/xf86-video-fbdev
[I] x11-drivers/xf86-video-fbdev
|
Since you are using the nouveau video driver, I don't think you need a framebuffer driver because it use KMS. |

And also : if you want to automatically login to Xfce session with slim, then this variable should be set to Xfce4, else you would have to press F1 on the slim screen to select the right session to login. |

Hi, netfab,
In this part, I agree with you. It is necessary to remove an unnecessary package from the system.
Thank you!
As for my main question. I didn't even understand how my question was solved! However, after I tried all possible options.
And you can no longer count the number of computer reboots.
However, after another iteration of the options in the file
Code: |
# cat /etc/env.d/90xsession
XSESSION="Xfce4"
|
and
the file
cat /etc/conf.d/display-manager
Code: |
# We always try and start the DM on a static VT. The various DMs normally
# default to using VT7. If you wish to use the display-manager init
# script, then you should ensure that the VT checked is the same VT your
# DM wants to use.
# We do this check to ensure that you haven't accidentally configured
# something to run on the VT in your /etc/inittab file so that
# you don't get a dead keyboard.
# # sdm ignore this env var and is configured at build-time to use VT7.
CHECKVT=7
# What display manager do you use ?
# [ # [ kdm | greet | gdm | xdm | gpu | lightdm | entrance ]
# NOTE: If this is set in /etc/rc.conf, that setting will override this one.
DISPLAY MANAGER="slim"
|
and restart the computer again. The login invitation page stopped giving an error after entering your username and password. Which I indicated in the title of my post. "Error failed to execute login command".
Currently, the system is logged in normally.
And, in the course of the above, I also reinstalled packages from the log file that I provided(see above) --->
---> Code: | cat /var/log/Xorg.1.log |
I am sure that the combination of everything I have done and written has given a positive result in the operation of the system.
In any case, thank you for your help and assistance in solving my question!! |
