Hello. I've been experiencing weird flickers on Libreoffice's UI. Both the side and upper panels show some kind of glitchy behaviour when clicking or hovering the mouse over them. I've tried multiple solutions listed online, such as doing a factory reset inside the program and even disabling hardware acceleration. I always use the binary package due to the long compile times, but I still tried the native compiled version (with BOTH flags on, "gtk" and "qt6"), and this didn´t solve the issue.

I've also read that Libreoffice runs primarily on GTK, so maybe compiling it with only the "qt6" flag may solve the issue, but as I said, it takes a lot of time to compile.

The strange thing is this didn't happen to me at all on Wayland, but I migrated to X11 (i3) a week ago and I can't get it to stop. Other writing software following the same gtk theme, such as Abiword, doesn´t have this problem.

Has anyone experienced this on their X11 box too? Should I re-compile it with qt6 support-only?

More of a workaround than a solution, but if the AppImage is a viable option for you, it works great for me...

https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/

In particular I use this version: LibreOffice-7.6.7.2.basic-x86_64.AppImage

Which was the first to work 100% for me, without any of the weird glitches I've had in multiple prior versions. So I never update it (I only use it offline).

It gave me the same error. Thing is, the flickering bug starts happening after changing the Appearance theme to "Adwaita SVG + DARK", as the default dark theme doesn´t let me see some of the tools on the toolbar (for example, the buttons for changing the font size or the font color).

Do you think it has anything to do with the GTK backend? I've used Lxappearance for changing the system theme, it works for all my other apps without issues. Libreoffice is the only one giving me this issue,,,
Only on Xorg11, as I stated previously, it works great on Wayland under the same settings and appearance profiles

I'm on X also, but I only use dwm, no desktop environment like xfce or anything like that. So I would assume it's related to your DE and not GTK
But it's just a guess, I don't really know how to help you further debug this.

I'm on i3, which doesn´t have a compositor by default. I think it's the same for dwm. Anyways, I'll ask on reddit.
