|
|
Hello,
I'm about to update my profile from 17.1 to 23.0/split-usr. I also would like to get gid of multilib. Is there a way to do this in one go without too much mines to step on?
Thx in advance. |

Maybe go with multilib profile for now to not do too much at one step but at least remove abi_x86_32 flag from any package which has t before emerge --emptytree @world just so that you don't need to do it later? _________________ Unix Wars - Episode V: AT&T Strikes Back |

saski4711,
Switching from multilib to no-multilib abandons the 32 bit code in place.
Oher than saving build time for the toolchain, is makes no difference to the way your install works.
There is no going back once things have been updated as the 32 bit code still installed will be old versions.
The no-multilib and multilib on disk layouts differ too, since multilib must keep 32 bit anf 64 bit programs with the same names apart.
Is short, the switch is unlikely to be worthwhile at all. If you do go ahead, keep it separate to the profile change. _________________ Regards,
