|
Is there somebody who can tell me if that's even possible? I want to have something on my external monitor which stays there when I switch workspace on my laptop integrated display, just like Gnome does. I don't want to use Gnome for a number of reasons. Sadly, the number has only been increasing for the past few years.
Best Regards,

Is this still a thing?
EDIT: Ah, it's a X11 WM. It looks like I'm stuck with the crap Gnome developers have made of Gnome. |

what about this https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-wayland-session <<< wayland session using wayfire for the MATE desktop
or switch to Hyprland and use the dotfiles from https://github.com/prasanthrangan/hyprdots - best dotfiles of all.

I have to see if I can make an ebuild for that. Looks like the easier option for me than the one below.

I'm afraid that looks and sounds like too much configuration and tinkering to get basic stuff done for me.

at first, it seems bit much, but after a while you'll see that many options are really well configured also well documented, regarding Hyprdots.
i installed Endeavour OS on a separate disk with no Desktop at all (don't forget the devel packages), git cloned the repo to users home, e.g. ~/Hyprdots, executed the install script as User also better use paru and not yay, configured it to my liking,
tried many things to get comfortable, copied and used the user settings for my Gentoo System.
it took a while to get through all the options and scripts - i use Openrc - Hyprdots are specified heavily for Arch and Systend.
now, everything is working perfect !
