|

Hi,
I remember, that there was a way to launch a second X display with a newly started instance of the X server (this is not an exact description of the
technique involved here...it is in inaccurate fuzzy cloud of memory out of my brain... ) ... but I can neither remember how to acchieve this or
what software was involved.
How can I acchieve this?
Background: I will test run window managers...
Cheers!

Hi, my guess, use virtualization like qemu, is little bit hard learning curve but if done you get more benefit of KVM technology(can share hardware resource). But if you want to run more than one X session at time , some instruction is on https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/X_server#See_also

Virtualization is a lot of overhead for very little gain here. OP just needs to start a second X server, which could be as simple as startx. More complexity may be required to start with a non-default window manager on the second server. |
