I have gentoo-sources installed and my kernel source (including .config) went missing.
I know there is a new kernel build system but I am quite happy simply building the gentoo-sources myself.
I would not expect gentoo-sources to disappear, cos the 'gentoo-sources' package was still 'installed', according to portage.
I have a nice little script that does all the required pre-and-post tasks of a kernel build, so new kernel sources are simple.
Regardless, thankfully, I have backups, I will simply re-install 'gentoo-sources' to get the metadata all sorted then restore the gentoo-sources to get my .config back.
Am I wrong in this? Have I misinterpreted the latest 'eselect news', whereby there was talk of a new pre-built kernel?

If your kernel was compiled with a corresponding option, you can get config of the running kernel in
/proc/config.gz |
