|
|
When I do an update, I each time get a message that a vlc update is being skipped due to unsatisfied dependencies triggered by backtracking:
Code: | # emerge -DUvu @world
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
Dependency resolution took 41.48 s (backtrack: 4/20).
Total: 0 packages, Size of downloads: 0 KiB
!!! The following update(s) have been skipped due to unsatisfied dependencies
!!! triggered by backtracking:
media-video/vlc:0
Nothing to merge; quitting. |
Normally, there is information included about what dependencies are unsatisfied, but not here. I would like help finding out what is the matter here.
I think that vlc itself does not need to be updated, or it might be due to some use flag change:
Code: | # eix media-video/vlc:0

Could it be ffmpeg issue ? ( vlc is not yet supporting ffmpeg-6) |

So is this an issue where we just need to wait for vlc to get up to date for ffmpeg or is there something that can be done to fix? Thanks. |

I'm sure after reading around the forums I just ended up putting
Code: | media-video/vlc -vaapi |
in package.use and it stopped that message coming up, haven't noticed any problems with it so far. |

This is indeed also what I did. I don't use vlc enough for GPU acceleration to be really required. |
