Hi All,
I've been having trouble periodically running google-chrome-stable.
Here's the error message I get:

I can run google-chrome-beta o.k., although it seems a little less stable.
This doesn't seem to affect all versions -- google-chrome-stable was running before a recent emerge world and was not before that, so it seems to be somehow version dependent.
Some things I've tried:
- Using the --disable-gpu flag. This doesn't seem to make a difference.
- Running incognito from the command line; this doesn't seem to make a difference
- temporarily removing .config/google-chrome. This doesn't seem to make a difference.
Anyone have any ideas? Here's some pertinent info:

I found that it has something with hardware acceleration, possibly video decoder, because with option --disable-accelerated-video-decode chrome starts.
But I do not know where too look for possible causes, even less how to fix it. Do you have any ideas?
I installed chromium from sources and it fortunately works well. |

Thanks system_exit! Running with that flag makes google-chrome-stable start for me too. I have also found that chromium works fine, except that it doesn't sync with my google account (I know I can get it to, but haven't had a chance to play with this).
As for what's causing the problem, I really have no idea! It's strange because it only seems to come on some versions of google-chrome-stable, and never (for me) shows up on google-chrome-beta.
Thanks again for the workaround!

I'm glad it helped. This is the first time in all the years when I saw this bug, although it seems it keeps popping up time to time.
I did not known that using google-chrome-beta might work too, good to know, thanks. |
