Do you use standard kde "2.27" or did you unmask anything?

I don't see any wayland USE tags in kde-plasma, is it normal? How do you know you use Wayland?

kde-plasma/libplasma have "wayland" useflag.
If your world compiled with global "wayland" useflag - you want select wayland session into SDDM menu

Check it: cat /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf
Code:

[Autologin]
Relogin=false
Session=plasmawayland
User=pan

[General]
HaltCommand=/sbin/shutdown -h -P now
RebootCommand=/sbin/shutdown -r now

[Theme]
Current=

[Users]
MaximumUid=60000
MinimumUid=1000

And check with cat ~/.local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log

i simple emerged dev-libs/wayland, this gave me all the support i needed, maybe this did enable wayland useflag. There is an additional "xwayland" use flag that is intended to resolve compatibility issues during the current transition period from x to wayland. I have this activated, but I think Google Earth is the only program I use that still uses x. I am not sure. In February will be kde-plasma released in version 6 with wayland as default.

You can choose wayland in sddm-loginscreen and you see it also in infocenter of kde ( https://iili.io/JIOhgPn.png )

If you want to use suspend to RAM or to Disk it is still not working.
So if you use laptop, it is not an option.

That's just a library, emerging it manually does nothing except pollute your world file.

OK. In that case, what would be the correct way to switch KDE from xorg to Wayland?
