While trying to install gentoo on a new machine using gentoo minimal installation cd, I encountered a wifi error similar to this: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=212371. In order to allow for wireless card to be recognized, I need to modify files in /lib/firmware. However, since /mnt/cdrom is mounted read-only, I am not allowed to modify anything in there when live booted. And without internet connection, I can't proceed with installation. Does anybody know what would be the fastest solution? Do I have to make my own iso image now or there is an easier workaround? |

Freedom1947,
Any random live media that allows your wifi to work.
You will need to dobefore you follow the handbook.
There is always sneakernet too. _________________ Regards,

If it should be a fast solution, I see two options:
1. Use wired ethernet, OR
2. Try another BootCD ... GentooLiveCD or UbuntuLiveCD |

There is no ethernet where this machine is. GentooLiveCD, same problem. Any other suggestions perhaps? Arch live? Fedora? |
