I am having this weird issue I am not able to resolve by myself.
I bought a rather recent laptop with a Zhaoxin processor (KX-6640MA) a few days ago.
Just for a try, I connected a USB storage device (SanDisk Extreme 64 GB) with 32-bit LXDE based Gentoo installation.
The kernel used is mostly based on drm-next code base (i.e., added code to support still in development OpenChrome DRM) with 586 class processor compile.
The eselect profile is standard (default) profile, not desktop profile.
LXDE has a wallpaper issue, but I will digress on that one.
The problem here is that the computer tried to enter sleep (standby) every minute.
Yes, you heard me right.
The computer tries to do this every minute, and I need to press the keyboard to get out of the blank screen every time it tries this.
Sometimes I need to press its power button to get out of the blank screen.
Does anyone know why LXDE behaves like this?
At the log in screen (LXDM) it does not do this.
It starts like a plague once I successfully enter my username and password and proceeds to LXDE based desktop environment.
I added dbus to OpenRC's default group, but I still get a weird message like, "Cannot connect to message bus" error message everytime LXDE starts.
I installed xfce4-power-manager with policykit option via USE flag (per package, not global), but xfce4-power-manager refuses to run.
It appears to be a dbus issue, but I am not able to resolve it.

Have you configured your kernel to support this processor?

Yeah, desktop computer here has:
Code:
xset s off
xset dpms 0 0 0
xset -dpms
are set via lxde-base/lxsession's lxsession-default-apps which sets values in file ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
where it's shown as:
Code:
user@amd64 ~ $ cat ./.config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
...
@xset s off
...
@xset dpms 0 0 0
@xset -dpms
...
Likely overkilling.
I should reevaluate to slim down, me lazy :(.

x11-apps/xset is required.
Installed here as dependency for x11-misc/xdg-utils.

laptop might be a little trickier (ACPI & friends)... Have very old one here, but configuration is WIP.
Will check and return if anything new to share...

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

Unlikely to be CPU related, imho.

I checked my .config file, and it has Zhaoxin processor support set to y.
I compiled the kernel with that setting.

This matter is somewhat related to "How to obtain global USE flags for a desktop profile"

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1165324.html

I managed to recompile the relevant packages, and now, I no longer get d-bus related error messages.
Xfce4 Power Manager also starts up fine, and is able to alter power management behavior.
That being said, I still have this weird issue of the laptop entering standby (sleep) periodically.
Perhaps, I may have to try Ubuntu 20.04 LTS for testing purposes to see how it behaves.
This is because Zhaoxin has binary based graphics device drivers for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (similar to Nvidia's proprietary binary based device drivers).

Okay, it has been about 5 months, but I have finally noticed something.
I get this weird message from modemmanager that it is about to enter sleep.
It does this every minute.
Why is this happening and how can I disable this?
