|
|
Just got a new computer and been trying to get everything working, so I've rebuilt the kernel more times than I care to think about(gpu switching). Everything was good with the kernel build and install until a few hours ago.
Now when I do the make ; make modules_install ; make install
vmlinuz and System.map don't have -version appended to them. Grub ignores them without the version number. The modules in /lib/modules have the proper versioning.
I've even installed a different kernel and and built it with the default .config files in case I somehow changed something accidentally there. Same result.
I've toggled eselect kernel a few times as I had no other ideas?
Anyone know what causes this? thanks. _________________ NooB since RedHat 6.1

I originally used -dist kernel when I installed. I accidentally deleted
sys-kernel/installkernel-gentoo-7
was caught when I ran emerge --depclean
