|
|
I've been running apache (php and mysql too - but it doesn't matter) on my server-box for two weeks. A few days I go, must've been when I rebooted since a HD in the server broke.
Anyway, apache doesn't work anymore. I tried to unmerge mod_php and apache, and emerge it again, didn't help me. I even tried once again (), didn't work that time either.
My problem is, that when I try to run /etc/init.d/apache start, it just "says":
* Starting apache... [ !! ]
Nothing new in /var/log/*, I tried to start apache, and check what files was updated at that time (ls -l /var/log|grep 15:20), but nothing. Nothing in the error_log.
What the heck CAN be wrong? Help would be appreciated.
And btw, sorry for my english if something is wrong :p |

check to see if there is an apache pid file in /var/run/ and delete it, then try to run apache again. if something kept apache from shutting down properly, when you try to restart it, it will thing it is already running and error out. another thing to check would be how full is the HDD? if it is too full, apache may be prevented from creating necassary files on the disk (like logs). this happened to me once with X, where a normal user couldn't start X but root could, b/c 10% of HDD space is reserved for root and the disk was more then 90% full, so normal users couldn'r write data to disk, only root (at least i think that is what happened ). anyway, good luck. _________________ burzmali

OMG!
It worked when I removed the apache.pid and tried again... but, BELIEVE ME, I tried that before, at least ten times. Well, thanks anyway
Maybe start-stop-daemon should be more verbose...? |
