Kate lost its session data

Hi

Today as per usual in recent times I exited all programs, patiently waited for Firefox to shut down, then shut down (because it was our turn to have no electricity).

When I started up this evening, and opened Kate, it opened in an empty session ... it had the correct session name, but the scores of of files I had open were not shown (recent file list also empty), and assorted other settings were reset to default.

Any idea why this would suddenly happen?
