For some reason, I'm finding that the old KDE 2.x apps aren't displaying fonts in the same way as the rest of KDE. [The specific apps I've tried are KMerlin and KxICQ2.]
More specifically, whenever I change the "general" font in the control center to anything other than the default Helvetica, the fonts crap up in said apps - looks like it reverts to console fonts.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this behaviour, or what the problem might be? |

N/m, found the answer 
One has to type "export QT_XFT=true" in the app's environment, or easier, add it to one's .bash_profile. |
