|
|
Hi,
after updating to version 5.26, Plasma won't remember my monitor setup. Essentially, whenever I log in, my second (auxiliary) monitor is always off, and I have to manually turn it on. I found a couple of references online, this (unsolved) bug
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436648
probably being related. A funny thing is this doesn't happen in my office computer, which also has two monitors...but a radeon card (instead of nvidia) :-/
Anyone else hit by this?

i can't believe that this annoying bug was never really solved
what if, after setting up your monitors - save your users (kde) home folder and save the file which has the configuration settings
and create a little script which overwrites that file, with the one you saved, before login - it seems that kde always writing new settings after every login, for whatever reason.
i don't know which file it would be, because i don't use kde and (maybe) never will - using only sway/waybar system here

Thanks for the suggestion, though I think it's a little bit overkill for me
Maybe I'll give nouveau drivers a try (goodbye gaming ) |

stop gaming and learn coding - no offence !
ask kde forum - you're not alone with this kind of issue

None taken I do code, actually...but not all the time
Well, it seems I'm not alone, and a similar bug has been reported
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460517
Maybe I'll give the xrandr/arandr a try |

they claim, the upcoming 5.27 is completely rewritten, regarding multi monitor !
so, maye try some *-9999 ebuilds
i hope you can solve it somehow.
i'll stay with perfectly working sway/waybar (*-9999 ebuilds) with xwayland diabled - upgrade takes just 5 min.

Certain areas of it yes.

No need to. 5.27 beta (5.26.90) is in ::gentoo, 5.27.49.9999 with two weeks worth of fixes would be in kde overlay, 5.27.0 is due next week.
*Both* bugs are marked as duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450068 which indeed is resolved fixed for 5.27.

I found a workaround: if you are using sddm, having both monitors "up" in the login screen makes them "stay" once you are logged in. For that I added to /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup
Code: | xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1920x1200 -r 60 --output HDMI-1 --mode 2560x1440 -r 75 --right-of DVI-I-1 |
(after emerging xrand, if not installed).
Adding "solved" up above.
Cheers. |
