I installed grub-customizer, which messed up my /etc/grub.d/, duplicating every script. However, I somehow messed up removing these scripts, meaning that only the recovery entry is listed. How can I restore GRUB to its proper state?

Could this emerge option help here?
Code:
--noconfmem
Causes portage to disregard merge records indicating that a config file inside of a CONFIG_PROTECT directory has
been merged already.  Portage will normally merge those files only once to prevent the user  from  dealing  with
the same config multiple times.  This flag will cause the file to always be merged.

Is reemerging GRUB safe? Do I need to reinstall it afterwards?

To be safe you can do a "grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg" afterwards (like you have to do always with a new kernel).

I'd have to run grub-mkconfig no matter what, I meant whether or not I have to run grub-install. But just reemerging it with --noconfmem worked. Thanks Irets.

That's nice.

You don't need to reinstall grub on to the disk. Just recreating grub.cfg is enough.

You should edit your original post and append [solved] to the subject field.
That way people know that there is no question left unanswered but instead a possible solution to be found.
