i don't know that's it's specific to plasma/wayland. but that's what i'm using for my DE. from boot, it get a login screen in under 10 seconds. then it takes 2:50 before i get a usable plasma desktop.
if i log out and back in, it comes up pretty quickly. it only seems to be on the first startup. i have a pretty hefty machine w/ 128GB ram (4x32G DDR4 2666 MT/s) and 32 thread cpu. (AMD Ryzen 9 5950X)
what are some steps to troubleshoot this? |

Logging out and back in could speed things up because files are now in the cache; if you are using hard drives this will be more noticeable than on NVMe or SSD.
If you are using KDE, and you haven't changed the default configuration, AFAIR after a reboot Baloo does an initial scan of (probably last-modified date of) every file in your home directory for potential changes from external sources in the gap.
There are surely other things I haven't thought of or know about! _________________ Greybeard |
