Contol+Middle Mouse on Trackpad not working in Xterm

Hello,
This is sort of an obscure problem.
When I'm using my laptop and working in an xterm, I can hold down control and either the left or right mouse buttons from the laptop mouse to get the appropriate menus. However, when I do CTRL+Middle Mouse it doesn't work when I'm using the laptop trackpad.

It does work if I use an external mouse. I can also use the laptop's middle mouse button to paste into the Xterm, so it's picking up the event.

Any ideas?
