How to pull Zugaina repository in?

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

How to pull Zugaina repository in?

I've been trying to use

Code: Select all

eselect repository zugaina add <repo type> <zugaina address>
but nothing seems to work. They have instructions for layman, but that's been deprecated for years now. Anyone know how I'm supposed to fetch the ebuilds up there?

Afaik, there is no zugaina overlay. It is essentially a database for a quick search among overlay. So once you find an ebuild you want, you add the corresponding overlay.

I've used zugaina for hunting down certain ebuilds of software, although most of the time they're outdated so you'll have to do some work yourself... but usually it's faster than writing an ebuild from scratch.
That has been my experience so far.

After I find the ebuild that I'm looking for, I'll place it into my localrepo, edit if needed, create a manifest and then emerge.

You'll find the overlay in question on the lower right side in each of the search results. You need to add those instead of "zugaina".

zugaina still has a repository, as far as I know. (*note, I use layman not eselect)

but here's a direct link http://gpo.zugaina.org/Overlays/zugaina/
UM780 xtx, 6.18 zen kernel, gcc 15, openrc, wayland
minixforum m1-s1 max -- same software as above but used for ai learning

On Zugaina, on the right side you'll see other repository names.

E.g. if you search for oracle jdk, you'll see it's part of KBrown-pub

So you need to:
- eselect repository list
- eselect repository enable KBrown-pub
- emaint sync -r KBrown-pub

You could also eselect repository enable Zugaina but there's not much in there. They're mostly in other repos, the packages.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, I had to figure this out.
