Earth And Beyond!

It's online role playing galaxy and it rox!

Get the demo - this is full version of the game valid for 5 calendar days - 1.2GB to download.

But be aware: it's very addictive - if you are keen on this type of games..

earth&beyond isn't a linux game
mylink wasn't put in portage since it depended on the original uplink graphics (the ebuild was done though!) ...now that this isn't the problem anymore i don't know why it isn't there :/ ...ask on the bugzillah

ANY mud.

Muds (Multi User Dungeons) are responsible for destroying educations, relationships and other non-important things in life.

I've played fallout "fallout[dot]wolfpaw[dot]net port [2222]", which is unfortunately down at the moment. I've played here for 6 years and had like 6 months online time (6*30*24 hours...).

worse then crack... hell it's worse then pringles

[edit ]Fallout is back online! join us at fallout.betterbox.net port 2222
*** be warned, its not for the faint of heart, explicit content *** [/edit]

Even though I'm more of an RPG guy (I haven't seen a great RPG since Baldur's Gate 2, especially for linux) I can't stop playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Even though I suck at FPS I can play a medic or engineer and really enjoy the teamwork when it's there.

Emerge it now!

i like rpg's but i haven't really played any on linux yet, so i won't comment.

but the most addictive action-type game, would have to be Enemy Territory. sometimes i join a server and play map after map for 2-5 hours straight.

Quake 1 MegaTF (www.planetmegatf.com)
free download, you will also need to downloas the linux fuhquake client from fuhquake.net to play in linux :)

This is the bomb :)
there is still 3 or 4 servers wich are always full :)

Get the mtffull, it has new textures, and models, you would almost never know its quake 1 :)

Also, chexk out this video, im pretty sure youll start playing quake after this :)

Morrowind. It's so big and open ended, and you just want to explore that next cave or complete your current quests ...

You guys ever try going to the shooting range, going caving, taking fencing or horse lessons, or camping? Sure games are fun, but sometimes the real thing isn't too shabby either.

I strongly recommend caving. Don't go without 3 light sources though.

Apart from that, what are considered the most addictive games in the gentoo emerge system? - Particulary non FPS games...

In my opinion Counterstrike has been an addictive game during its beta process, maybe even until 1.0 but now its completely boring and the community is childish and terrible today.

Civilzation type games are the most addictive for me - Currently C-evo for Windows and FreeCiv On Linux.

Midtown Madness 3 on the XBOX.

you are maybe all right:

CS is absolutly unbaerable ugly since 1.6 .. this was a big reason for my to kick windowz from my system and install gentoo; big THX to the developper of cs 1.6 (the litlle ************* :P )

D2 is also one of the best games ever..

but from my point of view is it fact that the best strategy game ever is civ2 (or a opensource version www.freeciv.org )
and the fastest and most phantastic real-time strategy game is Warcraft3. i love the whole warcraft series (of cause starcraft too) but this 3rd part fuckin RULZ... :D

and the best linux game i ever played was trying to isntall the 2.6 kernel.. :) but i didnt finished that game so far.. i hope can say "game over" soon (yes i am a little linux nap, especialy with linux on a desktop pc :) )

Simcity 4 really does suck you in :P, as does CS, I once loved Age of Empires 2 but I honestly can't be bothered reinstalling -- perhaps if it ran on linux....

Oh and I absoloutely love morrowind however now I've explored its game world so well, as well as that of the 2 expansions that it really doesn't hold anything for me anymore :(.

I said MUDS are the most addictive, but the Delta Force series are a close second imho. DF: Black Hawk Down is the only reason i still have a Win2k partition...
Novalogic keeps track of your stats, and you can earn medals en ranks. That's what makes it so addictive for me.
Muds are usually hosted on *nix boxes though...

ET (enemy-territory in portage) is a great ftps game that accually work great for linux. My earlier expericences with fpslinuxgames is bad code that gives linuxusers higher ping than winusers. This game is.. not like those games. :-)
