Looks like OSX but I like it. Did you build from cvs or from the ebuilds. I have to try building it but it will take forever on my system _________________ What boots up must come down. |

Yes, that is crossover 1.1.2, great app.
I used the Kde 3.1alpha1 ebuilds that are no longer in portage.
I dont know where they went, if someone could post them, I could really use it.
but I also patched kwin (kdebase) so it will allow me to use the scroll wheel to shade and unshade my windows by scrolling up and down on the top bar.

They are still in portage -- they're just masked.

They're in yesterday's snapshot, so grab that and pull them out.

They have been removed because the KDE-maintainer received a lot of bugs, request, etc. that already has been taken care of in KDE-cvs. If you want KDE3.1 from CVS go to http://www.gentoo.org/~danarmak/kde-cvs.html.
Regards,
John Herdy.
PS. to Kurt: I think you need to emerge rsync --clean (or just emerge rsync with latest portage) |

Thanks, but I don't rsync on this box -- firewall and all. I have a script that pulls and untars the latest snapshot. Not very bandwidth-friendly, but rsync isn't an option where I work.

Klieber,
I'm also located behind a very restrictive firewall at work. But as long as you are able to use HTTP through the firewall, you should also be able to do a rsync. Have you tried using the RSYNC_PROXY environment variable. Just point it to your regular http-proxy and you should be set to go.

Oops, one dot to many (at the end), previous post is working perfectly.
Regards,
John Herdy.
PS. to Kurt: the best option is indeed to use to this script https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1556 but if you still want to use the snapshot you need to clean you portage tree before the untar. |

I installed the cvs ebuilds from earlier this month. Now that new ones just came out, is there any procedure I need to follow to upgrade?
I've since emerge rsync --clean'd, and I've noticed that while I still have the cvs ebuilds installed, portage thinks I don't. Can I just emerge the new ones, or do I need to clean some stuff up? |

i have emerged kde3.02. would it be a problem to emerge kde3.1 alpha, too? I'm working with this system and mustn't crash. Has anybody installed both kde-versions?
thanks |

@theoderich
I installed kde3.02, kde3.1alpha1 and kde-cvs and got logins at kdm for each of them. They also have their own §home/.kde directories.
While i have lots of trouble with alpha1 and cvs with freezing and crashing apps, 3.02 is still working 100%.
But its never wrong to do some backups of important work!
Greetings,
Schmolch |

i just wanted to install kde3.1alpha, but after my:
emerge rsync,
there is no kde3.1alpha or a kde-cvs in my portage tree.
Can anybody tell me, what to do for launching the "newest" kde ??
Thanks |

As has already been mentioned once in this thread:
