GD 2.0 with php?

The latest version seems to be 1.8.3-r5.
But I need some of the 2.0 functionality.
Is it possible to make version 2 available
despite the fact that it's still in beta?

No ebuild has been made for it, so it seems you're on your own -- for now, at least.

Ok, I tryed removing libgd and mod_php and then
installing the new libgd manually. I checked the
libgd.emerge (or whatever) to check that locations
were the same. But after that mod_php fails to
compile. It just can't find any gdfunctions and then
quits when it fails to locate gettext.

Any suggestions? Should I try faking an emerge
by replacing the current libgd with the new one
and hope that the emerge script will fix it?
