You should post also full build.log.

Any reason you are using ~testing >=setuptools-61 in stable?

cppy-1.2.1 is fixed for 61 (or even, it requires it), but like >=setuptools-61 it's also in ~testing

>=setuptools-61 may potentially cause issues with other packages in stable too.

At one time, I included test branch of the setuptools for liblarch. Now I don't remember why.
Any way, I just removed dev-python/setuptools ~amd64 from my accept_keywords and no errors any more
Thanks a lot

I ran into this exact problem because I'm running my machine as a Python TOX test system, so I need to install Pythons from 3.7 to 3.10 and PyPy3 (and wish I could have kept 3.6, because stupid RHEL is one of the platforms I have to support), which the modules I'm testing need to support. Without ~arch, build requirements like setuptools only support 3.8-3.10 (3..10 is recent) and no pypy.

So I've got a lot of dependencies for pip and virtualenv marked as ~arch so the corresponding TOX cases don't die. Would be lovely if there were a way to not have to copypasta "PYTHON_TARGETS: ..." on all those packages in package.use.

Anyway, for anyone else who finds this via Google like I did, adding this to /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords fixed it:

Code:
=dev-python/cppy-1.2.1-r1 ~amd64
=dev-python/kiwisolver-1.4.2 ~amd64

You can do:
Code:

*/* PYTHON_TARGETS: python3_8 python3_9 python3_10 pypy3

or similar in package.use, FWIW.

As for Python 3.6, can't you use a virtualenv or similar for that?
