Hi got a small problem , I was running vanilla sources 2.4-24, decided to install another kernel, so I DID,, gentoo dev sources 2.3,everithing works, but then I updated it to 2.6.5, and I have no sound!!!
now I only kept my vanilla sources 2.4 and sound still works on same config.
Please help,I' m new at this, and I' ve been working on it for hours and nothing seems to work ,i even emerged the latest alsa drivers!
My system is a dell inspiron 5150 laptop, sound is a intel 8xx. got sound working in 2.4 with alsa, and 2.6.3, did nothing to make it work, worked fine by itself,2.6.5 no sound at all...

I checked the alsamixer sound setup, and found out that a preamp was muted...
so, got it working
