I just installed gentoo on an old thinkpad r500, and I am having some trouble setting up dwm. I managed to get it working with root, but other users can’t run it without root. I have looked all over, and I have tried a bunch of potential solutions I saw on different Linux help forums. None of them worked. I don’t really know how to paste things, so I will just post images of the error. I’m sorta a noob so please tell me which files I need to show.

Thanks so much! |

generic-account,
Make friends with wgetpaste to share things like that.
To use startx as a normal user, you need to use one of systemd, elogind or build xorg-server with USE=suid.
If you use systemd, its always running.
elogind must be in the default runlevel, or at least. running before you use startx.
The openrc default is to install elogind, which you then need to add to the default runlevel.
This is because a part of the xorg-server startup requires root access.
It fails for you now because the facility to do the root things at startup is not working. _________________ Regards,
