As a side note,should be equivalent toThks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

According to to another post, shadow and util-linux traded su implementations.
The general advice being that suid USE is needed on util-linux as well as a sane PAM config.
Check the logs when possible.
If sudo is installed, an alternative way to become root is to use 'sudo -i'. |

Thanks grknight. I am glad it was that easy. I did a search just before posting for 'su' and there was nothing. |
