I heared somewhere somewhen that gentoo developers planning a "yearly stable" release, brought on a CD. I am very interested in such a release, i don't want to hold my system up-to-date like that, and a yearly upgrade to a new system over the internet would be very nice...
Why don't use debian?
Debian isn't a from-source distro
Whatever, do you really plan such a release? Maybe to stores too? I think for people don't have a fast internet connections would be following very great:
One release with all sources and stable releases, where you can choose to update only yearly to stable, or can choose to upgrade every time you want to unstable releases... would be cool if that would be configureable in the portage-tree, simply an other directory (gentoo-portage-stable and gentoo-portage) or like that...
