Hi good people!
I switched from X to wayland (seatd + sway).
It's awesome, but some games doesnt give me display.
What doesnt work?
Baldurs Gate 3
On X, i was able to play without any problems using lutris.
What happens when i run?
I hear sound from game so that means it works but i dont get any display, i even searched ttys.
What works? (i think most in general)
Steam -> Nier: Automata, Cyberpunk 2077 ... no problems.
Lutris -> A hat in time, Guild wars 2 and others no problems... |

Most of the time the issue is with teh version of SDL being used, ie it isn't aware of Wayland
From within STEAM, rightclick on the game you want to play and change the launch argument to below:
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command% _________________

EDIT!
I solved this by accident, so if anyone have problem with BG3...
Actually, i use xorg (switched back from wayland for a while) and deleted those line in my .zshrc
Code: |
#export GDK_BACKEND=x11
#export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11
#export XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11
|
At this moment i dont know why it works, but finally i have screen.
If your game works, but you dont have any window of game but you hear a sound, game works etc. then one of these env are problem.

Well, i tried with that and GDK_BACKEND=x11.
But result is always the same, it runs game (i hear audio), but no display.
I wonder, maybe i need something i missed.
Problem isnt gentoo specific... On protondb someone reported similiar issue
But, still Xwayland is big suprise... most stuff like Tomb Raider, Ori and the Blind forest just work, and it's hard to say what is better.
I will try in free time reinstall BG3, maybe i need to force somehow windowed mode. IDK
If anyone will find a way, big thanks! |
