Hello.
I just ran
Code:
emerge -avuDU --backtrack=120 --verbose-conflicts @world

and after a reboot i have no system tray icons on Gnome.
HPLIP status is arguing that no system tray detected on this system
and some other apps also argue about the same thing.
Mega sync displays a window on login and no systray.
can't see any systray icons.

emerge --info
USE-flags

EDIT: Solved: I had outdated gnome extensions that were incompatible. I updated them and all ok.

GNOME doesn't support tray icons. I think it was removed a few years ago. Perhaps you were using an extension that's not compatible with your version of GNOME?

Could be.
Is it this one that i need? I had it installed but it was an old version...?
AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support
(Adds AppIndicator, KStatusNotifierItem and legacy Tray icons support to the Shell)

I tried upgrading it but still can't see the sys tray icons even after a relogin.

Also none of the other extensions show up....
I have tried for example "Applications Menu" extension. Can't see that. it was working before.

How do i see if there are some error messages?

Sorry, I got it working, i was trying to enable them from wrong place. From chrome browser at address https://extensions.gnome.org/local/

i searched for "extensions" from the apps and with that tool i got it working, thanks!

So it was just an outdated version of the extension.

I'm glad you were able to solve it. :) Don't forget to edit the subject marking it as solved.
