| I think you need to add the fact that if windows had never been installed on the disk ther eis no reason to worry about uefi. I learned that in linuxfromscratch.org |

All the newer machines are uefi nowadays.
That being said you can make a non-uefi install of Gentoo in an uefi machine.
I am not sure if you need a "compatibility" mode in the uefi menu or not.
But why would you seek lesser capabilities?

Who needs to add that where? I assume you are referring to one of the installation documents. Also, I disagree that you need not worry about UEFI. Most modern machines prefer an EFI based boot, so you do need to concern yourself with making them happy. |

You may not have to WORRY about it, but you may have to use it. I understand some machines won't boot the old way. On the other hand, I won't use UEFI unless I have to. I haven't run into a non-buggy UEFI yet. So far, some are OK.
