Counter Strike: Global Offensive starts with blackscreen

I have a Ryzen 5 3400G which has a vega 11 igpu. I am running mesa 21.1.7 and kernel 5.14-rc2. Whenever I try to start csgo, it launches a black screen with only the mouse cursor visible. I can move to other workspaces though. After a while it just crashes to desktop. It only manages to launch to the menu very rarely. I suspect it may be related to this issue: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-o ... ssues/2659

I've tried some stuff from the linked thread: disabling steam input, adding -nojoy, replacing libtcmalloc.so.0 with one you get from emerging dev-util/google-perftools but none of those work. I haven't tried installing the flatpak version of steam. I have both steam-launcher and steam-meta installed. Here are the USE flags for mesa:
