|
|
Hello everyone,
since updating to Gnome 40, gdm refuses to log into a Wayland session. When I try to log in into a Wayland session, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the login screen. I have tried using lightdm instead of gdm, but there wasn't any difference. Curiously enough I was able to launch a Wayland session once, but can't reproduce it.
The relevant lines in the syslog are: Code: | Aug 11 20:36:44 home gnome-session-binary[2112]: WARNING: Failed to upload environment to systemd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner: Name "org.freedesktop.systemd1" does not exist
Aug 11 20:36:45 home kernel: traps: gnome-shell[2122] trap int3 ip:7f86f5416827 sp:7ffd87e0c630 error:0 in libglib-2.0.so.0.6800.3[7f86f53d9000+8c000]
Aug 11 20:36:45 home gnome-session-binary[2112]: WARNING: Application 'org.gnome.Shell.desktop' killed by signal 5
Aug 11 20:36:45 home gdm: Gdm: GdmDisplay: Session never registered, failing |
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Plz add also elogind at default runlevel.
Also wayland is very experimental.
gdm by default tries to use wayland.
You can force it to use X by editing
/etc/gdm/custom.conf
Code: |
WaylandEnable=false

Thanks for the welcome.
I've finally had the time to update to Gnome 40 and am now dealing with a slightly different issue although probably related, so I updated the original post to reflect that. |
