Hi, ALL,
I just finished installing KDE5 then created .xinitrc file and then tried to start it with "startx".

Got following error:

Quote:

parse_vt_settings: Cannot open /dev/tty0 (Permission denied)

I tried it as a regular user.

I checked the KDE Troubleshooting page and it says to enable "elogind" globally.

Is this the way to go?
Or I should check X troubleshooting page as well?

Thank you.

That or rebuild xorg-server with USE="suid",the first being preferable.

Hi,
I just checked and the flag is on.

Is there anything else I can provide to troubleshoot this?

Thank you.

Hi,
I decided t follow up with the X documentation.

I fixed couple of things with kernel, rebuild and rebooted.
Then I updated make.conf by adding:

Code:

VIDEO_CARDS="intel i915"

and then updated world.

That command asked to do:

Code:

emerge @preserved-rebuild

but it resulted in the following output:

Code:

The following USE changes are necessary to proceed:
# required by x11-drivers/xf8-video-ati
# required by @preserved-rebuild
>=x11-libs/libdrm video_cards_noveau videp_cards_radeon video_cards_amdgpu

I don't have those cards - I only have Intel one.

So all other should be gone...

Thank you.
